With the kind permission of 'Stamp News' where his articles all appeared, my webmaster has nearly completed the enormous job of replicating all his 100s of hours of original research articles complete with photos.

I will fund the hosting of it all here or on glenstephens.com soon - as a permanent tribute to the vast amount of knowledge Simon had that has gone forever now his website has expired.

He'd have liked the thought that data and written research can live forever, and educate the current and next generation of collectors.

Well after a lot of work my webmaster now has assembled every research article Simon had up on his website, prior to his passing.

Every scan and every word he had written, is captured below - in perpetuity.

I'll host them forever on this page -

A sad loss of a very good friend and colleague.

That's a fitting tribute to a really nice guy and a philatelic legend.

Looking through items like "50 years of KGV" or "50 years of Kangaroos" gives anyone reading those articles an idea of the amount of knowledge Simon had collected, collated and willingly imparted to everyone.

Well done Glen :!:

The 3rd Anniversary of Simon Dunkerley's death has just passed by, and I still see many threads on stampboards where his philatelic wisdom still lives on for all to read and learn from.

His widow Angela phoned me this week for a very long chat, and mentioned she and the family were absolutely delighted his research articles had been saved, and carefully rebuilt, restored and captured for perpetuity.

Angela said the family had none of his stamp papers or magazine articles on file, and this internet record is all that they had of them.

She had also just read this long thread, and asked me to thank those who had left comments, and was touched by the posts left here.

VALE Simon. Sadly missed.

I was in touch with Simon literally just days before his death. I wanted him to do some certificates for me and was arranging delivery of the stamps. I was supposed to call him back to sort out a convenient time, but got caught up and by the time I was about to do it I heard the sad news.

2009 was a very bad year, early on. First the Black Saturday fires here and then Simon's passing.

Like Glen, I keep coming across postings here by Simon. Sadly missed.

I tried to look at Simons articles that are on Glens site ½hr ago, all I got was a 'download screen' and nothing else.

I went back to the View New Posts and saw the post on Internet Explorer 9.
I deleted Internet Explorer 9.
Now I can view all of Simons great articles.
GET RID OF IE9.
Best regards David :)

I had no problems when using IE9 to visit the site through the links Glen provided in his most recent posting.

Was just looking for historical data on a KGV head rare stamp and a member reminded me it was (of course!) outlined in Simon's wonderful research articles.

A timely reminder to all collectors of Australia, to bookmark his fabulous output -

I managed to read all Simon's articles on that link over the past years and have reread them a few times more.

Very enjoyable.

He had an in depth understanding of the Stamp collecting World. Such a shame that he went so young.

I was sorting out some correspondence last week and came across a note by Simon written a couple of years before his untimely death aged just 50, eight years ago now this February.

He was recommending two items for purchase on the 1956 Olympics and Cricket. One I could afford, the other was beyond my means.

And thinking about what exactly is happening in the world today with Fake News, Alternative Facts, and a $A5.4 million salary package, I found Simon Dunkerley a most honest, helpful and ethical man.

RIP Simon.

The monster salary mentioned in my earlier post: $5.6 million salary package.
Simon would have been absolutely disgusted.
